Once every three years, bauma, the world’s leading trade fair for construction machinery, building materials, mining machines, construction vehicles, concrete testing, and more, takes place. This year the show was held in Munich, Germany and was the biggest bauma ever in the exhibition’s 65-year history. Not only did a record-breaking 620,000 visitors attend (up by 40,000 in 2016), but attendees also came from over 200 countries. That’s more representatives than the United Nations! The top 10 visiting countries, after Germany, were: Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Great Britain.
In 614,000 square meters of space, including room for a selfie tower and a Ferris wheel, it took 13,000 trucks and more than 600 heavyweight vehicles to construct the show, held at the Messe München. Every type of construction company you can image was in attendance. From ready-mixed producers, to owners, and engineers, it was truly the place to be. As one of the 3,700 exhibitors showcasing at bauma (another record), our team of concrete experts had the amazing opportunity to connect with an unprecedented number of individuals and companies in the industry.
The “megatrend” seen throughout the show was the theme of digitization. As smart construction equipment, communication interfaces, and sensors that collect and analyze data continue to become the standard on site, creating faster, safer, and more efficient job sites is the goal. Something Giatec knows a little bit about.
One of the highlights of this year’s bauma was seeing the large number of companies that showcased digital technologies and smart solutions designed to make jobsites more connected and efficient. It is exciting to see that the construction industry is embracing these technological advancements and innovations, and we are happy to be a part of this industrial revolution.

Exhibitors unveiled a huge number of innovations and new products to the market, including Giatec. It was at bauma where we introduced Roxi™, the world’s first artificial intelligence program for the concrete industry. Developed with Mila, Quebec’s World-Renowned Artificial Intelligence Institute, Roxi can more accurately monitor and detect anomalies at various stages of the concrete life-cycle with our SmartRock® wireless temperature and maturity sensors.
“Three years ago, Giatec was in the initial stages of penetrating the international market with our new technology. Now it’s clear that we are known. People from all over the world came to visit us with knowledge of our company and our products. More important; the knew of our mission to revolutionize the concrete industry. Being able to share with everyone our progressive award-winning concrete testing solutions and seeing firsthand the impact they are making in the industry world-wide is amazing. We cannot wait to see where our company will be at bauma 2022!”
